Cost for GED Testing in West Virginia
 
The GED testing services through the State of West Virginia are free.
There is no cost to take the GED test in West Virginia if applicants meet certain
guidelines.
 
GED Residency for West Virginia
 
West Virginia does not have a residency requirement.  Persons meeting all criteria and demonstrating
themselves eligible under the State of West Virginia GED Diploma guidelines shall be admitted to GED testing for the purpose of securing a State of West Virginia GED Diploma.
 
Age Requirements for West Virginia
 
Nineteen and older
If you are  nineteen (19) years of age or older or re-testing, you may proceed to STEP 3.
Eighteen  (18) Years of Age
An individual who is eighteen (18) years of age is eligible to test by qualifying under any of the following categories:
 
1. Provides evidence on the WV GED Form (Appendix 1) that candidate’s original high school class has graduated,  the candidate’s withdrawal date, passing OPT scores, and release of information signature,or
2. Provides evidence on the WV GED Form (Appendix 1) the withdrawal date from a regular accredited high school, passing OPT scores, and release of information signature.
Sixteen  (16) Years of Age and Seventeen (17) Years of Age An
individual who is sixteen (16) or seventeen (17) years of age is
eligible to test by qualifying under any of the following categories:
3. Provides evidence on the WV GED Form (Appendix 1) that candidate’s original high school class has graduated,  the candidate’s withdrawal date, parent or guardian signature granting permission to test, passing OPT scores, and release of information signature. or
4.Provides evidence on the WV GED Form (Appendix 1) the withdrawal date, which reflects that the candidate was withdrawn from the regular accredited high school or was placed in alternative education or home-schooled for at least one (1) month prior to testing date, parent or guardian signature granting permission to test, passing OPT scores, and release of information signature.
